How Long Does a Water Filter Last?

How to Change a Water Filter

In general, you will need to follow these steps for most refrigerators:

1. Cut off the water supply to the filter area.

2. Remove the old filter.

3. Place the new filter into the refrigerator.

4. Reset the water filter sensor.

5. Run water through the new filter to clean it before use. This amount varies for each filter and brand.

How to Change a Water Filter on a Whirlpool Refrigerator

Depending on the model of Whirlpool refrigerator that you have, you will have one of four different filters. All of them will have a number printed on them. If for some reason you can’t read the number on the filter, you can look up your filter on Whirlpool's website.
