CHARLOTTE, NC, June 21, 2022 - Queen City Audio Video & Appliances is celebrating the 70th anniversary of its founding. What started in 1952 as a simple television repair company has evolved into the Piedmont region’s premier retail organization for a large range of home appliances and electronics, including refrigerators, freezers, ranges, cooktops, ovens, kitchen cleanup, laundry, TV, audio, grills/outdoor kitchens and more. And in celebration of its achievements, Queen City is hosting a series of community events and promotions this summer.
“It's always been about our people and their commitment to serving customers that have led to our success,” says Roddey Player, president and CEO of Queen City Audio Video & Appliances. “The biggest thing to impact our business in the last 20 years was adding our new 104,000 sq. ft. distribution facility. It has given Queen City's customers access to over $26 million in local inventory, despite the incredibly difficult supply chain issues felt across the globe.”
Then and Now
From the early days of the company in the 1960s and 1970s, the demand for home appliances grew. And this presented Queen City with an opportunity to become an integral part of the community by providing the essential appliances everyone needed.
A decade later, the 1990s saw tremendous growth in the custom home building community, and Queen City invested in showrooms to become the undisputed choice for Charlotte's leading home builders, remodelers and designers, using premium stainless steel professional appliances to outfit this new market.
Today, grills and mattresses are part of the product mix at all six store locations, with a full furniture offering at Queen City Home Store on furniture row in Pineville, North Carolina. As a three-generation family business, Roddey Player runs the business along with his mother, daughter and son.
“It’s the people that really get things done,” Player explains. “A highly trained and committed team to help each and every guest find the right product at the right price by giving them real answers. That’s our guarantee.”
Investing in the Community
As the 70th anniversary kicks off, Queen City invites the local community to join in the celebrations by participating in its exclusive summer events and promotions.
Running July 14-August 24, 2022, Queen City invites the communities of Charlotte, Pineville, Monroe, Morganton, Salisbury and surrounding areas to take advantage of its 70th anniversary big summer blowout on appliances, mattresses, TVs, audio, grills, furniture, home accessories and more. Customers will be able to enjoy exclusive rebates of up to $3,000, plus a free second-year warranty on select appliances.
Customers will also have a chance to sign up and win weekly prizes, including home theater packages, kitchen appliance packages, private chef dinners and more until the end of the year.
Plus, on July 18, 2022, Queen City will host No Child Hungry for a meal-packing event at their Charlotte, North Carolina, location at 2430 Queen City Dr., Charlotte, North Carolina 28208. No Child Hungry is a nonprofit organization that works with corporate and community-based groups to pack meals, hold drives and give meals to people in need. To participate in the event, which is aiming to pack 140,000 meals to feed hungry children in both the Charlotte area and Ukraine, you can sign up and donate an hour of your time. For teachers who choose to volunteer, Queen City will donate educational supplies to their classrooms.
“It's always about the people. We are honored to give back in recognition of those who have supported us over the last seven decades,” Player explains. “Customer focus is a vital part of getting better in our industry, and we strive to exceed the expectations of our guests each and every day. Whether it's online or in-store, we want to be the best resource so they can make the best decision to build on their dreams.”
