HOW TO LEVEL A WASHING MACHINE

Washing machines need to be level to properly run. If your washing machine is not level, it can vibrate and rock as it spins and cause damage or excessive wear and tear on your machine.

Start by placing your washing machine in its final location. Hold opposite corners of the machine and rock it from side to side to test if it moves at all. If the washing machine rocks, it needs to be adjusted. Place a level on top of the washer in a flat location and adjust the legs with a wrench until the machine is level on all sides. This video tutorial provides more detail on the process.

KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY

According to a survey from Consumer Reports, the average washer and dryer will last about 10 years. Select brands and models have been known to have machines that last longer. Taking care of and regularly cleaning your washer and dryer can help prolong its life.

If you are shopping for a new dryer, the labels on each machine or a product specialist can help you determine which dryers are gas and which are electric. If you need to determine whether your current dryer is gas or electric, all you need to do is look behind the dryer. If you see one power cord going from the wall into your dryer, it is an electric dryer. If you see an electric cord and a thin metal connector, it is a gas dryer.

Deciding between a top-load or front-load washer and dryer can be a difficult decision to make. Many factors can play into your decision and determining which option will be best for you and your household. Weighing the pros and cons of each type of washer can help. Take a look at this recent blog post that covers each type and its benefits.

Regularly cleaning your washing machine can keep it running efficiently for years to come and result in cleaner clothes. Take a look at this step-by-step tutorial on how we recommend you clean your washer monthly.
